Rogue Redhead Designs New Releases!

Aah, an appropriate title for this post. So, have you heard? We've had two new releases at Rogue Redhead Designs. These are 3 stamps from the full-size stamp plate Just Sayin'. It's full of quirky vintage charm with focal images, sentiments, decorative elements and a full-size background.

The second release is a mini stamp plate featuring the art of new England artist K. Dunn. It features free-flowing images of love, enchantment, and a joyous spirit just in time for Mardi Gras and Valentine's Day.

I've gotten one card made today, guess that's better than none. Getting my Hubby officially retired has turned into quite a job. Yes, I know, that's an ironic statement. We're having to make a lot of phone calls to make sure all the paper work is flowing through in a timely manner to be able to get our final retirement check to get it over to the investment people. You'd think the people still drawing a paycheck who are supposed to know how to do these things would do them correctly. Ho Hum---onto the fun part of the day.

Totally black and white. I created the sentiment panel on the computer, used a dot stamp, got to use my pinking heart border punch, and this cute little tag with the polka dot ribbon to match the dot stamp.

Clean, sharp, and effective.

Gingersnap Creations GC133: Chestnut Theme Challenge-Use a Set

I not only used the set of stamps Vintage Vogue, but I used a paper set Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper, both by Stampin' Up. One of the first things that attracted me to Stampin' Up from the very beginning was they had a actual true burgundy and so far they have kept that in their color palette.

The only thing not Stampin' Up on this card is the tiny copper heart brad in the middle of the flower.

I listed the challenges in the order in which I worked up this card. I just love it when challenges fit together.

Some challenges limit how many other challenges you can enter other than theirs, but I think I'm under the limit on this one at each of these.

I shopped my stash for this cute silhouette stamp that I acquired last spring and when Stampin' Up came out with the Lacy Ribbon Border punch I just thought I had to have it. I've punched it a couple of times, but couldn't quite decide, so today I broke it out again, punched the Tempting Turquoise, cut in half and used it to frame the silhouette.

All Stampin' Up products except for the ribbon that's Offray.

Wicked Wednesday Weekly ATC Challenges WW#15-Dresses/Dress Forms

Wow, what a day. First, I learned that the photo editing program I've been using is going away as of April.

I have all my pictures saved in 3 different places so I won't loose anything, YAY for that. Trying not to be a last minute Nellie, I thought I better get in gear and see what I could find to replace that tool. I found a free photo editing program, downloaded it with Hubby's help, and proceeded to try to learn how to use it. This is the first picture that I did. There's going to be a learning curve, but after watching some YouTube videos, and playing around for a couple of hours, I don't think I did to bad for an old lady. Ha--you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Now, on to my ATC for Wicked Wednesday. When I showed this to my Hubby and said, "Do you get it?" He said, "No, that must be a girl thing." So I decided to title the post Which One?, even though I bet all you girls out there got it right off.

Then he said, "Oh, does that mean you're supposed to pick a dress?" I've always said it's a good thing we didn't have girls, they would have been doomed.

I love those little hanger brads, except for the kind of big holes they made, I'll have to practice with that next time I use them.

After not feeling well for a few days I'm back up and running. I seem to be either at full stop or full go. Hitting a happy medium doesn't seem to be in the cards for me.

I'm squeezing in at the last minute on both of these challenges, so if you haven't already found them you won't be able to get in on this particular challenge, but they are both fun places to play and Gingersnap gives you almost a whole month at a time on their challenges. It's only us last minute Nellies that can't seem to keep up ;-)

Fat Pages With Attitude Challenge #5-Anything Goes

I'm back because each every other Friday I'll be posting back to back posts for the sister challenges that I'm on the design team for--Fat Pages With Attitude and ATCs & Cards With Attitude.

You probably just got through reading the post for ATCs & Cards With Attitude, but I'm going to be doing a little bit of repeating so bear with me.

As of February we will be adding Themes to our challenges just to help spark a little bit more interest out there, we hope. Abbie our fearless leader has worked very hard and arranged for at least one sponsor and sometimes more for each challenge for the rest of the year, that means prizes for every challenge. We all love to win prizes, I know I do. So I'm putting out a call to all my faithful followers old and new to come over to these two challenge blogs and play along with our fun challenges and check out our very talented Design Teams.

O.K. enough unabashed begging, or in posher circles, promoting 2 fun challenges that you may not have known about.

For my Fat Page today this is a digi stamp from Limited Runs Stamps, they've got about 22 catagories of digis to choose from and this fortnight the prize will be Winners Choice. How cool is that? You get to pick.

I couldn't get a certain little rhyme out of my head. If you're not a history buff you may not catch on to my tongue in cheek creation, so I'll give you a little story--

Back in the late 1800's there was a young lady named Lizzie Borden, she was accused of killing her parents, it was quite a scandal and a horrific crime scene. The newspapers as they do today jump on stories like this and sensationalize them, so they came up with a rhyme to sell more papers and keep people all head up about the story--

Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother 40 whacks.

When she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41.

I've always been fascinated by the author and artist Edward Gorey, so maybe this is my quirky, creepy side showing ;-)

ATCs & Cards With Attitude Challenge #5-Anything Goes

Good Day Followers and New Followers. Today begins the fortnight for our Challenge #5 Anything Goes at ATCs & Cards With Attitude.

Yes, you see a little change in our title. We're expanding to add cards to our challenges in hopes of attracting some added challenge buffs. Also, starting in February we will be adding themes to our challenges. We'll keep the Anything Goes, but add a slash theme, sometimes it's easier to create something if you have a theme to spark the little gray cells creativity. You will be able to do one or both if you feel really creative on any given fortnight. Our fearless leader, Abbie, has lined up wonderful companies to sponsor us through the rest of the year so there will be prizes with each challenge. Now come on you guys who doesn't love prizes?

I'm trying to encourage you all to come over and play along, we've got a great design team and we encourage all talents and we love to see all the diverse favorite techniques you guys love to create with.

I've named this fairy Sprocket, she's working the midnight shift in her workshop tinkering with some time pieces. She's a digi from Delicious Doodles , they are offering a choice of 4 digis for the prize this time around.

I've embossed a Navy piece of card stock and hit the high points with Metallic Rub-ons. I printed the fairy to the appropriate size, colored her with metallic art pencils and a Clear Star Gel Pen on her wings for just a touch of sparkle, cut her out and popped her up on dimensionals. I happened to have a tiny gear that just fit on her earring, and I added the other tiny gear and watch pieces with clear drying glue. She would be perfect to enter in a Steampunk ATC swap.

Rogue Redhead Designs Rebel Challenge #7: Frosty-Use Vellum

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone!

This month at Rogue Redhead Designs we're using vellum. Don't be intimidated by not knowing how to attach it without the adhesive showing. Where there's a will there's a way. On my card, after I stamped and colored on the back I attached the vellum circle with a glue dot behind the dragonfly. The mat I made with the border punch, purple pattern paper, and the bow is wide enough to catch the bottom part of the circle and that helps to anchor it also.

This is one of the stamps in the Milliner Misses stamp set. If you haven't been over to Rogue Redhead Designs store yet it's well worth the visit. Shar has been tweaking the site so it's very user friendly and she's got some great deals going on.

In the coming days you'll be seeing some sneak peaks for some new releases, and who doesn't love new rubber?

I've got a Frosty card tonight with some sparkle and bright colors instead of the usual blue, white, and silver. I've been using this paper for a couple of years and it's still some of my favorite Christmas paper. This was the perfect sketch for showcasing these strips and using the last of my resist paper snowflakes.

I'm not completely enamored with this card, but I'm going on with it because there are no right and wrongs in creating art. I was experimenting with a scallop border stamp I have that is all one piece. Since I wanted 3 different pinks I colored it with my markers.

You can't get much more Casual than this, a nice plain card from a creative heart.

Forever Night Challenges Freaky Friday Challenge #22-"A Little Strange"

I got this great stamp last year at the Mesquite, TX. Rubber Stamp Show. I couldn't resist the Take Time To Smell The Roses sentiment, and if I had friends who liked quirky, creepy things like I do this would even make a good sympathy card, but not for the faint of heart.

Oh well.

I used my watercolor pencils and gave this a good coloring and then a little swashing. I think Rosie is enjoying her flowers.

Springtime Vintage

Stampin' Royalty SRC106:Fabric

I have taken the title for this post from the papers and fabric I've used to create this card. Springtime Vintage from Stampin' Up.

Here in N. TX. we're enjoying sunny weather, but I know in other parts of the world it is cold and bleak. Even though we need seasons for the earth to function properly we all seem to long for Spring and Fall the most of the two seasons. I think because they bring a time of mildness, before it gets too hot or too cold.

I've torn and twirled the fabric onto 3 different sizes of sticky circles and added a flat backed pearl to finish them off. The Martha Stewart leafy vine punch fit just perfect across the middle. I ran it through the Swiss Dot embossing folder and hit the high points with Always Artichoke ink. The Thinking of You from the Swirls & Curls Verses stamp set was a good fit for this card because of the tiny flowers on the words.

I've just squeezed under the wire at Stampin' Royalty on this one so you probably don't have time to enter this challenge, but you can hop over and take a look at all the entrants uses of fabric.

Wicked Wednesday Weekly ATC Challenge WWC #14-Ocean/Aquatic

How lucky, I already had one of the sea nymph digi designs from the sponsor C.S. Designs at Wicked Wednesday this week.

I printed her on Bashful Blue card stock, colored with Copic Markers, added the pearls, and some real sand, and then couldn't resist spraying the whole thing with a product called Goosebumps, a clear texture spray. It gives it an underwatery look.

This has been a long day of general living, so I think I'm giving up for tonight.

Tuesday Morning Sketches TMS #128-Sketch with a twist-Vintage

I treated myself to this set of Hero Arts stamps and dies combined for Christmas. It's such a treat to be able to stamp a stamp like this and not have to fussy cut it out, just run it through the machine.

I'm squeezing in at the last minute on the Gingersnap challenge, but with this great sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches I was able to pull this off and use this wonderful vintage embellies that I got from The Funkie Junkie. I liked how they went together so well with this rich Mocha Morning designer paper.

I had to show the inside of the card tonight to make the title of this post make sense. I created the sentiment on the computer and ran some more of that Mocha Morning designer paper through the printer. I've got a special couple in mind to pop this in the mail to next week.

Mark's Finest Papers Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge 89-use brads or eyelets
Shopping Our Stash SOSC 34: All that Glitter Sparkles, or Shines

I have to make a quik edit this mid day--I guess I was more tired than I thought last night because I left off the Shopping Our Stash challenge and that was why I added the Dazzling Details to the chip board letters so they would shine and sparkle for their challenge. Hope you gals don't consider this back linking just an old lady blunder.

I've got a 5 1/4" square card for my closing project tonight.

I started with the sketch from Card Patterns and decided to pair it with the CAS-ual Fridays and Mark's Finest Papers challenges because I immediately thought of my favorite button brads and the sketch had 2 dots in the left hand corners so it was a perfect placement for eyelets. Instead of either or, I chose both.

This was an easy one. After I got the card set up with the 2 mats, added the eyelets, the ribbon, and brads, it was just a matter of covering the chip board letters with designer paper,cutting off the extra bits and filing around the edges to smooth out the roughness. I went around the edges with a Sharpie White Paint Pen to give them some depth, then for the final touch I spread some Dazzling Details over the letters for just the right amount of sparkle. Hope you can see it when you click on the picture to make it bigger.

Anything Goes Challenge Blog Challenge 58-Anything Goes at Anything Goes

City Crafter Challenge Blog CCCB#91-Back to Black (use a silhouette something)

I started out with the colors from the Lisa Somerville's challenge and then began to think about how to go from there. I had been wanting to use the Fabulous Florets stamp set, but so many Stampin' Up ladies had used it so wonderfully I couldn't quite get a handle on it. I pulled it anyway and still thinking I pulled a sketch from Mojo Monday from last year then that brought to mind the Too Terrific Tags stamp set which was one of the first stamp sets I bought from Stampin' Up, stamped with Marina Mist ink and punched with the Lg. Tag punch. The striped paper is from Making Memories, but very old because I want to start using more of my stash. I pulled the waxed black string and the 3 black rhinestones with 1 small black rhinestone on the silhouette just to set it off. I don't think it's to noticeable in the photo, but it shows up in real time.

3 great challenges, give them a go.

Forever Night Challenges Freaky Friday #21-"I've Been Framed"

This is one of Meagan's digis from Dilly Beans, I told you I had fallen in love with her digis. She has some macabre and some cute.

When I saw this challenge at Forever Night I knew exactly which digi in my stash I wanted to use.

I created the sentiment on the computer, then stamped one of my new frame stamps over it. I got it a little off so the red heart brad was the perfect touch, and there is actually a skull in her hair, so I couldn't resist attaching this skull charm, I had gotten back around Halloween, with a baker's twine bow.

Jingle Belles No time Like The Presents!

Jingle Belles are giving us 2 weeks between challenges so far this year and since most of us don't take time to stop and smell the roses little own make Christmas cards ahead of time, we will still get a bunch of cards and projects made if we follow Stef and Lauren this year. It's easier than falling off a cliff (sorry, couldn't resist.)

This card is a mix of 2 companies--Stampin' Up,Designer Series Paper Deck the Halls, Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke ink, + Close To My Heart, D1177 No Peaking, one of the first stamps I bought from them.

Don't forget, anytime you can't find any of the products I'm using on my projects these are hopefully inspiring you to dig around in your stash and use the products you have that are similar. You can recreate the look and feel of a card or a project without using the exact same stamps and ink.

Today has been a day filled with lots of general living chores. I'm trying to spend the evening in my studio.

deconstructing jen is a new challenge blog to me, but it looks like she's got lots of fun things going on over at her place. Dilly Beans I just found at the end of last year and I fell in love with Meagan's digi designs and I've been playing at Do You Stack Up since about mid summer 2011.

Silver and white is a favorite of mine to do snowflakes. I kind of compressed and instead of a border punch at the bottom of the sketch it's a little different, but basically the sketch is still there. Pop over to jen's place and see what you think.

The Order of the Opus Gluei Challenge #121-Out with the Old in with the New

Stampin' Royalty SRC#105-Sketch Challenge

I'm going along with a couple of the girls on the Opus Gluei team, I'm grateful that 2011 is over and I'm thankful for all the blessings that we are already experiencing in 2012.

My Hubby will be officially retired Jan. 11, my Mom has recovered almost back to where she was before the stroke in March 2011, I'm feeling energized and ready to win some more challenges and get published some more in 2012.

I'm returning to some of my favorite challenges that I neglected in the later part of last year and Stampin' Royalty is on the top of my list. Sandra, the head goddess, was one of my first followers and gave me some tips to make my blog better. She and her team have always been very supportive of my creativity and their challenges are always interesting and encourage us to create out side our comfort zones. I like that. If you haven't played at either of these challenges give them a try, I bet you'll have some fun.

Purple is one of my favorite colors, so starting out this year we've got a lot of purple going on. When I saw this sketch at {Freshly Made} Sketches my went to the bottle caps I had purchased last year thinking I just had to have them. They have been waiting patiently in my stash and these little stamps from Stampin' Up Clearly For You stamp set fit just perfect stamped with Elegant Eggplant ink. Even though I don't have a sentiment on the front I think I'll be using this card for a birthday.

Wicked Wednesday Weekly ATC Challenges WWC#13-The 60's

The Three Muses TTMS-Song Lyric

This a stamp from Shirley's 2 Girls who are no longer in business, unfortunately, they had some really cute stuff.

When I saw this challenge at Wicked Wednesday and the one at Three Muses I went straight to this stamp in my stash. I have taken a little poetic license with Chuck Berry's song Ridin' Along in my Automobile, but I think you get the jest.

Picture this--summer 1967, on my way to N. Texas University, where my mother and Aunt had attended and Aunt had graduated from. Their colors are green and white. My Dad had helped me buy this cute little black Volkswagon (I didn't have a dog), and I was still blonde in those days. I met my hubby to be that summer on a blind date. By the time I had finished 2 summer semesters and one fall semester, hubby to be and I had decided to get married. He was in the Navy stationed in Virginia, I wanted to drive my cute little Volkswagon to my new home, but in those days you didn't buck the parents. My Dad decided that was too far for me to drive alone, so he kept my car, which I think he secretly wanted from the beginning, he and I were the wild ones in the family. I'd been in Virginia about 3 weeks when I got a picture of my car covered in hot pink flowers saying, " This is what it should have looked like when you were driving it." My Dad and my sister, who is 6 years younger than me had a blast with that car. Oh yeah, and my sister had a gray poodle.

After this long story, that brings up another song--Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end...

I've chosen one of the first Meljen's digis I bought last year when I first started learning how to use digis, Topsy Turvy Cake. I had to shop through my stash to find these dark purple brads and I used some paper that I had just opened over the holidays Stampin' Up Designer Series paper Just Add Cake because I need to start working on a new stash of birthday cards. Of course, you recognize the frosting, Liquid Applique, it just makes the best frosting I've seen so far.

With the beginning of the new year I'm recommitting to some of my favorite challenges, so hello again Melissa and team at Tuesday Morning Sketches. I've won many times over at Melissa's place and even been a guest designer. Tuesday Morning Sketches is a fun place to play with some very talented and supportive people.

You can't go wrong with a good sketch and some fun products.

ATCs With Attitude Challenge #4-Anything Goes

Friday is a big day, another great challenge for you at ATCs With Attitude. Our challenge is young and just getting up and running in the last weeks of 2011 so we're still keeping things simple for you to get into your list of challenges this new year. Anything Goes, any products, but of course, you can always hop over to the sponsors place and pick up some thing to play with or wait until the winner of the challenge is chosen and see if you've added some new digis to your stash. Either way digis are a great way for instant stamp gratification + you can size them to fit perfect on ATCs.

I liked this angel with her hands in her pockets and some attitude going on from Limited Runs Stamps, so the Mae West quote seemed to fit her perfectly. Copic markers, chalks, souffle pens, and a medium point Sharpie pen (next time it will be a fine point), brought this ATC into being.

Fat Pages With Attitude Challenge #4-Anything Goes

Lots of general living going on here at my house yesterday and today, so I'm behind on some important commitments.

This fortnight at Fat Pages With Attitude is our 4th Challenge and we're still keeping it simple for everyone to enter with another Anything Goes Challenge. You can use any products you like or you can go over and visit our Sponsor Delicious Doodles and pick up a digi that sparks your fancy to create a great Fat Page to enter for a prize. This frame is one of the digis that the design team got to play with. As soon as I saw this I could just envision looking through the page of a good fairy tale book into wonderful fantasy story.

I printed the digi onto Crumb Cake card stock, cut it out and sponged the edges and around the inside of the frame that I cut out with a craft knife, then rubbed my sponge all over which finished the great shading already there with Early Expresso ink. I found the fantasy city at Google images(free), printed the text on top, sized the whole thing to fit in the digi frame, all done in Open Office (also free), glued the whole thing onto a piece of light weight chip board for stability, and edged it all with a copper metallic paint pen. I'm thinking of creating a little Fat Book with pages of some of my favorite fairy tales. This page will make a great cover page.

City Crafter Challenge Blog CCCB#90-Save The Date

When I saw this challenge the stamp that is the main focal image here came straight to my mind. This is a Paula Best stamp and the circle face in the middle is a set of 6 faces that will fit in this circle to change it up a bit. I've had these stamps for 3 years and today is the first inking.

You know you just have to have things and then they go to the bottom of the pile for some reason. Well, new year, new inking :-)

The Happy Birthday is from Stampin' Up-Swirls & Curls Verses and I colored the date with a yellow highlight marker, and the rest with Stampin' Up markers. Oops, except the face and that was colored with a PrismaColor pencil.

Take A Word TAW-A New Year

As you can see above the challenge is A New Year.

I surrounded my Happy Clock that I got from free Google images with some positive thoughts for the new year, 3 quotes about beginning, a happy rainbow chalked background, some glitter, and a stamp inked with a multi-colored ink pad to fill in the holes, and when I stepped back and took a look I think it's a Happy busy page.

I know this year is going to be busy, and since I'm a glass half full kind of gal, I know it's going to be happy.

Rogue Redhead Designs Design Team Member Post

Oh Boy, have I had some fun playing with a melting pot, some clear beeswax, a great stamp set, scrap paper, ink, and micro beads.

One of my goals this year is to use some of the products that I just had to have and haven't taken the time to use. I spent some time last year reading up and watching YouTube videos on using melted wax on projects. This is using the leftover wax from the previous post.

This is a 3 3/4" X 4 3/4" canvas. I painted it with some Claudine Helmuth paints. The scrap paper I had picked to use led me to the use of these colors. I tore around the edges of one piece distressed the edges and glued it onto the canvas and stamped the sentiment along the bottom. With another piece of the scrap I stamped the Ladies in Sepia, dry brushed some of the paint onto their hats to pick up the colors on the canvas, and distressed the edges with Old Paper distress ink, then popped the image up with dimensionals. I used an old brush dedicated to wax use only and with the warm wax began brushing the wax around the edges of the canvas and around the edges of the popped up image. I let the wax run and puddle in some places. With the micro beads close at hand I brushed some wax on and poured the beads on and mashed them in slightly. You have to work in one area at a time, the wax cools very quickly. When I got all of that looking kind of like I wanted it to, I brushed Blue Patina Perfect Pearls around the edges to pull the whole thing together.

I know this is going to sound very bragging, but I just love the way this canvas turned out. If you've bought some products lately that you haven't used I hope this will inspire you to get them out and with a little bit of reading and watching videos for some tips you too can create some fantastic projects.

I'm feeling very led to do a series of projects, different techniques, different mediums, but all with the Theme: Friendship. This is the second in the series. The previous project was the first.

Waxed

Gingersnap Creations GC130: Spicy Supply Challenge-Wax

Second day of 2012 and I have stretched my wings with supplies that I've had in my stash for awhile, but haven't had the courage to pull out and use.

1st-I pulled out my little flat iron, one you quilters would recognize, and heated some crayons and mushed them all over a piece of glossy card stock, even used the tip and got some pretty decent hearts in the background.

2nd-I pulled out the melting pot and melted some clear bees wax and first I painted the wax on with a brush, the 3rd rose fell in the wax, you have to have a pair of tweezers you want to dedicate to this technique. They looked kind of blobby after I got them attached with Scor-Tape to project so I carefully hit them with the heat gun, carefully I say, or else everything will start to move and remelt.

I kind of like it---it's not a card, but it could be, I'm thinking I might attach it to a frame of some kind and so a series on friendship. I wish I had gallery space.

Art Journal-Print Works

I have pulled out my first art journal again. In late 2011 I started to become interested in art journaling. I have done some internet searches, bought some books on art journaling, and some magazines. I have not quite decided to put any personal feelings in a journal just yet, but the year is young.
There is a challenge blog, Take A Word, each week you get a new word prompt, and that is what inspired me to start this particular journal. I thought I could do some practicing with different techniques, lettering, mediums and all the other cool things you can do to a journal and still not spill to many personal beans.
The word for last week was PRINT. I missed the deadline on entering the challenge, but I wanted to start the new year with working on something just for the pleasure of doing it.
In my reading up on this subject, I've read there are no rights and wrongs, so all you art journalers out there, please be kind if you happen to venture here and see these attempts. If you don't try, you don't improve.

Wicked Wednesday Weekly ATC Challenges WW#12-New Year's Celebration

This will be my Happy New Year post.

The 2 little hearts have Peace and Love lettered on them(still working on that tiny hand lettering)

Thank you to the team at Wicked Wednesday for embracing me and my art so warmly in the short time I've been playing at their challenge.

This is a digi from Dilly Bean Stamps, Megan's art captured my heart from the moment I saw her work, lots of cute and quirky personalities. I printed her on watercolor paper, colored with Stampin' Up markers, chalked around her for some softening, and a little bit of glaze pen on the hearts for shine.

To all the Team's that I have played on their challenges this year THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for giving all we budding artist's a place to stretch our artistic wings and display our creations.

To all my followers, HUGE THANKS for all the wonderful comments you leave for me here on my blog and in emails, you continue to help fuel my creative spirit(otherwise known as a voracious ego). ;-)

I have a lot of successes and met a lot of my goals in 2011. I'm looking forward to 2012 with much anticipation. I don't write down new year's resolutions, but I do make some silent goals in my mind and heart and strive to achieve them to the best of my ability, if a few don't get accomplished that's o.k. because I have given my best efforts.

I will enter 2012 with my Grandmother's mantra singing in my head--

Stiffen your backbone, hold your head up straight, look forward, and keep steppin'.

She lived to be 95, still living by herself and driving. A woman born in 1901, strong and gritty to the end.

I wish you all Peace and Love and many successes in the coming year.

Starry Night

Gingersnap Creations GC129: Chestnut Theme challenge-Starry Night

It looks like the New Year is going to ring in with a starry sky here in N. TX. tomorrow night. For you snowbound people the high tomorrow is supposed to be 72 degrees.

When I first saw this challenge at Gingersnap Creations this row of houses and this starry, sparkly stamp came into my mind. I've been wrestling with what to put with them. I dug around in my stash and came up with this blue card blank and what sentiment, my, my so many would have fit this, but I opted for these little words that go so well with starry nights. There was a time when we could lay out in our back yards on the grass without getting eaten up by chiggers and look up into the night sky to dream all kinds of possibilities.

I'm having my New Year come and go dinner tomorrow night with BBQ Ribs, Potato Salad, Blackeyed Peas, and Cornbread and various other goodies, so as you ring in the New Year 2012, don't forget to keep the laughter, imagination, and beautiful dreams first and foremost in your new year's resolutions if you make them, or just strive to make 2012 a Happier Year than you had this year.

Rogue Redhead Designs RC006: Get Griddy

I hope you're all recovering from the holiday celebrations. With this card I'm reminding you to stop and smell the flowers along your busy paths.

ATCs With Attitude Challenge #3-Anything Goes

Good Morning again--has everyone got their morning cuppa?

I'm back with our sister Challenge Blog--ATCs With Attitude. You see we're still keeping it simple for you--Anything Goes on a 2 1/2" X 3 1/2" creation. ATCs are small enough that you can whip one up in probably less 30 minutes after you get your idea settled in your mind. Quick and easy, you enter the challenge and have a chance to win a prize. Now that's what I call starting the new year off right.

One of our sponsors this week is Fresh Brewed Designs and she generously let some of our Design Team play with a couple of her images. I chose Spread Some Love. I can hardly ever pass up a chance to use hearts. Some of the other Design Team members played with some digis from Stamp Insanity, isn't that great, 2 sponsors that means 2 prizes--YEA!

I printed the digi on Bashful Blue card stock, colored it with Stampin' Up markers, and cut out the houses, trees, grass, and clouds from a retired paper pack from Stampin' Up-Welcome Neighbor. They were just the right size to set this cute butterfly in the foreground spreading some love. For the finishing touch I dot and dashed a border with a white gel pen.

Take some time out of your busy schedules this fortnight for a little breather in your studio. I know you can WOW us with some fantastic creations. Fat Pages With Attitude Challenge #3-Anything Goes

Good Friday Morning Everyone!

When you have recovered from the stress of cooking for large groups and opening all those presents Santa left----

You can go into your studio and join in this next fortnight with the 3rd Challenge at Fat Pages With Attitude.

Our sponsor this round is Stitchy Bear Stamps, they've got lots of digis and digi papers to choose from, but as you can see above we're keeping things as easy going as possible for you--Anything Goes as long as it's a 4" X 4" page of goodness.

I've used this Victorian lady Window Shopping digi from Stitchy Bear Stamps. As soon as I saw her I wanted to do something with a Dickenson feel to it. The background is a free Google image which I tweaked to fit my 4" x 4" page, then stamped and heat embossed in silver embossing powder the sentiment.

I sized the digi to the appropriate size and perspective to fit the Fat Page, printed it on Whisper White card stock and colored it with Copic markers, cut out and attached. That's one of the neat things about digis you can make them different sizes, very versatile.

After I used Scor-Tape to attach the cording around the edges, there was some tape showing, so I sprinkled some very fine clear glitter and bingo, the perfect finishing touch.

We already have a few repeat players and we hope to see more of you joining in our challenge as we ring in the New Year.

I don't usually combine this many challenges anymore, but after I shopped my stash for the striped and swirl paper (bottom layer & snowflakes), and the sentiment stamp both of which I've had for a couple of years, I decided that the Opus Gluei and the City Crafter Challenge were a perfect fit also. I used the sketch from Try Stampin' On Tuesday, but took just a tiny bit of artistic liscense, there's supposed to be a square where the snowflakes are, but the girls over at that particular challenge seem to like some thinking outside the box, which I like. My new Decorative Strip Northern Frost is my current favorite snowflake die and you may not be able to see it in the photo, but after I put the whole thing together I spritzed the whole thing with Vanilla Smooch.

If you're dreaming of a white Christmas this card will put you in the mood.

Gingersnap Creations GC128: Color Challenge-Yellow, Red, Brown

Sorry I'm not to chatty today, haven't been feeling very well. The weather here is all over the place. One day cold and rainy, the next sunny and 65, but that's N. TX for you, just wait a few minutes and it will change again.

November was Down On The Farm at Gingersnap Creations, so for the color challenge I decided to keep the head Rooster the focus of this card today. I tapped the markers on the stamp to get the mottled look, sponged some sunny yellow around the medallion because you know all roosters are up at dawn, and tied him down with some bakers twine that I found that has some sparkle to it (even though you may not be able to see that).

Hope to get some more studio time later this evening.

Shopping Our Stash SOS Challenge #30-Tag It Krafty

I'm closing this evening with a Krafty Anything But A Card Tag. I shopped my stash and came up with some Evergreen embossing powder(never opened), but thought I had to have it, and my go to flourishes by Rhonna Farrer. Tiny rhinestones colored red with a Sharpie marker and the holly cut from last years Stampin' Up Christmas paper, but the ribbon is the new Cherry Cobbler quilted satin, it is so rich and elegant.

I've had a busy productive, fun day in my studio.

Card Patterns CPS#145-Sketch

Our Creative Corner All Ruffled Up Theme Challenge

It's the home stretch now for Christmas. If you haven't mailed your cards you will probably have to hand deliver them. No matter what the weather is outside a cozy decorated fireplace always makes the season seem brighter.

I started with a great sketch from Card Patterns and used Cherry Cobbler dotted ruffled ribbon, gathered it and sewed down the middle to hold it in place. I used PrismaColor pencils to add a touch of color to the fireplace, a Martha Stewart border punch and a Making Memories poinsettia are the final touches to a warm inviting card.

Well, we're back to Christmas.

I love to combine stamp companies and to me this was a perfect match up. Dilly Beans digi Christmas Tree and the Dunce Cap Skeletons with the sentiment from Stampin' Up, and a die from Spellbinders.

My hubby saw me cutting the skeletons and wanted to know what's up with those and kind of made a face ;-( , but when he saw the finished product, he said, " Now that's cute !" ;-)

A simple, but pretty Christmas card.

I dry embossed the snowflakes on Confetti White card stock, sponged Bashful Blue ink lightly, heat embossed the sentiment with Night of Navy ink for a little boldness, and topped it off with just a few rhinestones. Easily reproduced many times to send out to all family and friends.

This little portrait of cuteness fulfills 4 challenges today. A generous blog friend Melissa from What Do You (Th)Ink, generously stamped a few of these images off for me last year and popped them in the mail. One of the nicest things about blogging is that you make such nice friends all over the world without ever having to leave home.

I colored the Snowmen with Stampin Up markers and spritzed the backgroud with the Stampin Up Color Spritzer Tool and a Bashful Blue marker. The snowflakes I cut out with the Northern Frost decorative strip with the Bride Specialty Paper, which I think is discontinued. It's a great resist paper. That's how I got the little bit of sparkle when I inked it with the Bashful Blue ink.

So, as you can see, I've got the misting, the snow, the snowmen, and if that doesn't add up to Winter Fun, then what can I say--"Party Poopers" ;-)

Fat Pages With Attitude Challenge #2-Anything Goes

The 2nd challenge at Fat Pages With Attitude starts today and will run for 2 weeks. Our sponsor is The Cutting Cafe. If you are not familiar with them you'll want to hop over and have a look around, they've got lots of cutting files and printable stamps, but don't get to caught up over there and forget to come over and create a Fat Page for our 2nd challenge. You just might be the lucky winner of some of those neat things you were looking at.

They let our team play around with some files for this challenge and I chose this wonderful sentiment about Hope. I found the background image at free Google images and added the white heat embossed branch for the I Will Survive Birdie from Doodle Pantry. I printed it on some pink polka dot paper and colored it with Copic Markers. I used a White gel pen to make the dashes around the edges and I had to add a little bit of bling just to sparkle things up. I also made sure that there is room to punch 3 holes in the left side if this ever goes into a book.

I will look forward to seeing some of your names over on the entry list as you take the plunge into creating some Fat Pages with me and our talented team in the next 2 weeks.

ATCs With Attitude Challenge #2-Anything Goes

Today our second challenge starts at ATCs With Attitude, it will run for 2 weeks and with the theme Anything Goes we should get a few more of you playing along. We're sponsored this challenge by Floppy Latte Designs.

You can find a large variety of digi stamps and digi papers to play with. I've chosen the Playing in the Snow digi.

I dry embossed a piece of mulberry paper and attached it to a white ATC then rubbed White Sparkle mettalic rub-on on the high spots and around the edges. I printed the digi on Whisper White card stock and hit it with the heat gun just to make sure I didn't get smears, colored it with Copic Markers and Spica Glitter pens, cut it out and popped it up on the ATC. One of my favorite supplies is Liquid Applique, a little bit goes a long way, and white is my favorite color they have. As you can see, it makes great snow. I just love the way it puffs up when you heat it.

I know you are preparing for big holiday celebrations, but we all need a breather in our studios between family stuff, so come on over and enter in our 2nd challenge. You could win some digis to add to your stash.

The Order of the Opus Gluei Challenge #119-Gingerbread

Yum, can't you just smell the gingerbread fumes coming from the kitchen. Not this year, only on paper. Most of the girls at Opus Gluei don't even like gingerbread, but gingerbread kids and gingerbread houses have always been a part of our Christmas and they are just as cute as can be.

I got into my scrap stash for this one and you can't see it in the photo, but I got out my Souffle pens for the cheeks and the white frosting. I paper pieced the girls dress to keep in the polka dot theme, my diagonal bows are a little challenged. I may have to add some strategically placed glue dots later so it can go in the mail.

CAS-ual Fridays CFC30-A Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

Good Tuesday Morning! Hope you've got a hot cup of coffee this morning if it's as cold where you are as here in N. TX. We had a few snow flurries close by but not here.

However, I've got a pretty spring card for you this morning.

I used the sketch from {Freshly Made} Sketches, but was to late to enter the challenge. With my birthday and all the holiday prep going on I'm running behind on some of my favorite challenges. I can still make it into the CAS-ual Fridays challenge and on the Tic-Tac-Toe board I chose diagonal from left to right, which is Scallops, Kraft, and Aqua.

I went with the Kraft card blank, and a Die-namaics die for the large scallops, and I chose to go with light aqua. With a Pool Party ink pad and a sponge I pulled the vanilla taffeta ribbon between the sponge and pad til I got the hue I wanted. I stamped the flowers from the Floriculture stamp set from Rogue Redhead Designs with Soft Suede ink onto Pool Party card stock, then glued the Beveled Windowpanes on with Glossy Accents. You all know there is still time for you to hop over to Rogue Redhead Designs and take advantage of the great Bundle Sales for our 1st Anniversary that Shar is having and treat yourselves to some great Christmas presents. (Shameless plugging ;-)

Gingersnap Creations GC126: Spicy Supply Challenge-Raffia

The month of November was Down on the Farm at Gingersnap Creations. I was looking for some chicken wire paper, but never came up with any. I found an old vegetable bag in my stash, but it was red, it kind of looked like chicken wire. Nope, I didn't make it to the local hardware supply. So I thought I would lay the veggie bag on the paper and use it as a stensil. When I started dabbing the green ink pad on it came out like you see, no chicken wire effect, but I kind of liked what I was getting so I decided to go for sky and grass.

I cut the nest out by hand and stamped it with my wood grain background stamp and sponged the edges.

I have to give credit to Susan of Cat's Ink*Corporated, she made a card 8-31-10 with a felt chicken made with punches. That is where I got the idea to make this Speckled Hen with part of an Oval, the tip of a star, and 3 different hearts. I glued a tiny black bead for the eye, went around it with a fine black marker, and dabbed the hole with my white gel pen. Thanks Susan--my chick is a little different than yours, but your idea is fantastic.

Wicked Wednesday Weekly ATC Challenge WW#8-Black & White

Oh My, the holidays are upon us and I'm scrambling this week to enter all the challenges I would like to enter. We've got lots of family birthdays on top of the regular holiday parties so December is always interesting here at our house.

Here's my entry for Wicked Wednesday this week just getting in under the wire, I hope. A great unmounted stamp from Artful Ilusions stamped in black on white, torn, sponged and a couple of really cute tiny dragonflies I picked up somewhere but can't recall where glued on the corner flourishes.

Wicked Wednesday Weekly ATC Challenges SS#7-Books/Reading

I was going to say closing down for tonight, but I'm already into Monday morning--so Good Morning everyone.

I'll start your day with an aged ATC. When I saw this challenge I just couldn't resist pulling out my Rogue Redhead Designs Relish Reading stamps and the background is from the Beach Babes set. I wanted this to have a parchment feel to it and I think I achieved this with the Crumb Cake ink and the background stamp on an ivory ATC blank and then stamped the rest with Always Artichoke ink. Very bookish.

Gingersnap Creations GC125: Chestnut Theme Challenge-Farm Fresh

At Gingersnap Creations for the month of November they are challenging us to visit down On The Farm.

I found this wonderful paper stack from The Paper Studio and these Rooster stamps from TPC Studio and decided to title my card Countryside. I would say you can just smell the sweet country air, but if you've ever lived on a farm or visited, the air isn't always sweet smelling. I have never wanted to live on a farm, but I do like to partake of those fresh eggs that come from there, and yes, I know they don't come from Roosters ;-)

Before I leave you this evening, I have to tell you I'm clapping again. The wonderful team at Gingersnap Creations has awarded me with another Ginger Gem. It is for GC124: Grays and Blacks and that was my Macbre Wedding card I entered. That was a fun one to create so it is really fun to win a recognition for it.

Fat Pages With Attitude Challenge 1- Christmas

Fat Pages are something new for me and they may be new for you also, so a little explanation.

A Fat Page is a 4 X4 creation with lots of embellishment on the front of the page and a little bit on the back of the page with you detail information like on the back of an ATC. Generally, you leave about a 1/2" area on the left of the front so that some kind of holes can be punched and after you've created and swapped a Chunky Fat Book can be created. Or, you are free to turn them into hangings, or cards, the main stipulation is that they are 4 X 4 and sturdily created because when you are finished they are very tactile and people will love to handle them for their viewing pleasure.

Now, that all that has been said, on to our first challenge here at Fat Pages With Attitude. As you can see above our first challenge is Christmas. Kenny K Designs and Dezinaworld are our two sponsors and Kenny K will be giving away some digis for our randomly drawn winner.

I used Kenny K's Sleigh digi for this Fat Page. As soon as I saw this stamp this song came into my head. I had this great paper from The Paper Studio and I immediately knew I wanted to use the new Mica Flakes I had ordered not to long ago. Sometimes here in N. Texas we have to create our own snow. We get lots of ice, but not much snow.

This is the first Fat Page I have ever created so if I can do it, you can do it. Don't let anything hold you back from coming on over and joining in on the fun at these 2 new challenge sites. I know there are other challenge junkies out there besides just me ;-)

This challenge will run for a fortnight or as I said before in American, 2 weeks, so even with all the holiday preparations going on you've got plenty of time to fit in these 2 new challenges on you challenge lists. We'd love to have you come over and play, hope to see you soon.

Wicked Wednesday Weekly ATC Challenge WW#6-Flowerful ATC's-Dilly Beans

This week the girls over at Wicked Wednesday are using a stamp from Dilly Beans and it's the prize also. I've never been to enamored of the big eyed girls and boys, but Dilly Beans has won me over with some of her creations. I would love to win this prize.

The girls also inspired my style of ATC with their graphic renditions this week. I created the bold black and white border then masked it of and with VersaMark ink and clear embossing powder, sponge daubers, and this bold flower stamp set, with a few tiny flower sprinkles added in I got a very flowerful ATC ;-)

Stampin' for the Weekend Challenge #20-Sketch

I wish my chipboard flourishes had turned out more red in the photo as they are in real life, but other than that I'm pleased with this arty creation to cover these 4 challenges.

In Tim's instructions for his tag he uses a mask to start with. I didn't have a mash that I wanted to use, so I took this Mona stamp and created a mask of her face and hair. I stamped her first in black, then sprayed the tag with Old Olive mixed with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearl, then went on with the instructions

Wicked Wednesday Weekly ATC Challenge Getting Angelic on Wicked Wednesday

First, I want to say thanks to Jenn at Wicked Wednesday and her team for bestowing a Top 3 Badge on me the first time I played at their challenge. It's always so good for the ego when your peers acknowledge their confidence in your work. If you haven't tried ATC's or haven't made any for awhile, you need to check out Wicked Wednesday and come play along for a fun time and some prizes along the way.

My Angel ATC is simple stamping and heat embossing on a textured ATC blank, and as you can see I just can't seem to make hardly anything without outlining it with one of my Sharpie Paint Pens. I also liked the rounded corners on this one to go along with the clouds.

The song that inspired this tag is Oh, Christmas Tree, Oh, Christmas Tree. I've already started humming Christmas Carols.

This was a fun process to build this tag. Of course, Tim's tags always come out bold and special because he always has just the right stamps. I'm still pretty pleased with my results except for my gold image in the bottom left corner. It should have been more bold, but when you hold it in person it's pretty. I like my little white shrinky dink snowflake charm I made, it sets off the white flourishes.

Before I get into my little story to go along with this card it's very purple and probably won't be anyone's favorite of anything I've ever done, but it got made yesterday and for some reason couldn't bring myself to chuck it. The Paper Players may kick me off because there is no actual stamping on this one, I got the girl from free Google images.

Which brings me to my story--I'm many things to many people, so what's on my head are many hats. Most days there are at least two and a lot of days many more than that. As you can see by my girl's face, being needed is a blessing and a curse, but alas, you rise each morning, put on your sparkiest clothes, can't forget your jewels, and grab your purse because you know that contains all your important papers and strike off to do the bidding of all who love you. I also remind myself daily while I'm striding through life I try to take time to smell the flowers along the way.

At Do You Stack Up the challenge is Teal, but I've thrown in a little Apricot Appeal and Blush Blossom for a smidge of adventure. The smidge of adventure would also apply for CAS-ual Fridays. This may be a little bit to adventuresome for them, but it's me all over, always stepping off the edge just to keep life interesting. I've always said that's why I have my Mom and my hubby, they hold my strings and keep me grounded. ;-)

Our Creative Corner Masculine Card/Project

Tui at Our Creative Corner wanted us to make a masculine card or project, but try a little twist using some different colors. I've used Crumb Cake, Bravo Burgandy, So Saffron, and Peach Parfait, I don't know if those will be different enough for her or not. I also have to say I had the same cowboy theme in mind that Linda, The Funkie Junkie had. My card is just not as fancy as hers, but here's to you Linda with a little bit of real and faux stitching.

I shopped my stash for the burlap ribbon, the paisley texture plate, and the antique brads to give this card a buckin' good punch up.

Our Creative Corner Fancy Folds

Anything Goes Challenge Blog Challenge 53-Stitches Real or Faux You Decide!

Here's the thing, fancy fold cards are so cute and really fun and challenging to make and also very difficult to photograph. This one's a Tri-Fold, I got the instructions from Splitcoast Stampers, it's called Cami's Trifold Card. Just a little explanation, you fold the far left panel down on top of the middle panel then fold that whole sandwich on top of the far right panel and the little tab holds the whole thing shut. I brought in the red stitching to go with the red sprinkles and the red cherry and then had to cover up all the back of the stitching, worked out pretty good though. Love that 1/8" Scor-Tape.

Just Steampunk! Scott Publications

Today you can hear me clapping all over the planet. Late yesterday afternoon I brought in the mail and to my surprise I found a white envelope containing this Premier Issue of Just Steampunk!.
I have learned over the last couple of years when I get white envelopes they are usually complimentary issues of the magazines I've been published in. So, when I opened this envelope and discovered it was the Just Steampunk! issue I started doing a very happy dance, then I had to calm down long enough to flip through the pages and see which of the projects that I had sent in was chosen. I couldn't believe it when I got to page 53, there was my Steampunk Puzzle Canvas on the page all by itself. I got a whole page all to myself. Talk about personal goals and dreams come true, to be included in a Premier Issue of a National magazine with some many other famous and talented artists and to get a page all to myself, but wait for it--when I calmed down again and started looking at the rest of the magazine low and behold there on page 93 was one of my cards, The Hands of Time. Well, if I was prone to fainting I would have, but you've probably realized by now I'm much more inclined to be one of the jumping up and down, shrieking kind of gals when good things happen.
Before I forget myself and get to big a head, I want to give a big shout out and THANK YOU to all the staff at Scott Publications for the confidence in my art and say it's an HONOR to be included in your magazines.

Well, the last couple of days prove to me that my style is truly eclectic. I have gone from Vintage, cute Christmas, to a Macabre Wedding. You can't get much more eclectic than that, and I've decided that the reason I'm so all over the place with my style is I love to try out all kinds of techniques and styles, just to see if I can. Maybe my true personality is really emerging: QUIRKY--

When I made this alcohol ink background I was going for a stormy, dreary sky and for some reason I thought wouldn't that be cute for a graveyard wedding. I started searching for bride and groom skeletons and thought I would check out the Octopode Factory. I've been seeing some of these images pop up on different blogs. Low and behold Lily had the perfect couple, and they really hooked me when I saw that he had hearts on his head. I'm just a sucker for hearts, and even better they are digi's so I also got my other quirky thing, instant gratification. Paid with PayPal, and by this morning she had emailed the link to download these and bingo, here's the card.

I didn't really think I had macabre in me, but I'm totally blown away that this came out looking like a creepy, stormy graveyard. My little flower embellishments are kind of hard to see, but they help create the illusion of a pathway into this garden of loooove---

This sketch from Card Patterns was the perfect match up for me today to showcase this cute stamp set Candy Kisses. You get 14 stamps on this plate. I've used 3 of the sentiments, the girl hugging the snowman, the background stamp, and the piece of candy. Card Patterns is a fantastic challenge site to go for sketches to jump start you project creativity, so no matter what stamps you're using this week hop over and have a go at this sketch challenge.

I just love these little button brads and after I stamped and heat embossed the candy pieces these little brads fit right in the middle.

ATC Challenge Blog Challenge 13-Anything Goes or Vintage

Hope everyone who celebrates Halloween had a happy time Trick or Treating.

This turned out to be a small piece of goodness due to some wonderful supplies. I'm going to give a plug to my blog friend Linda, The Funkie Junkie. I met Linda through several challenges and started following her wonderful blog, she has a fabulous vintage style and a generous spirit. She shares tutorials and information so that we can all grow our art. She has an Etsy shop and earlier this year I purchased some great vintage supplies from her. The 2 metal pieces, the beaded pin, and the flower applique are what helps to make this ATC pop.

Halloween Night

Gingersnap Creations GC122: Spicy Supply Challenge-Alcohol Inks

The more I practice with my alcohol inks the more I like them. I have found there is definitely a learning curve with these particular inks, for me anyway. I'm such a want to pick something up and get perfect results first time out of the box, that I find with several of my supplies I have had to slow down, practice, and experiment. Well, that's the fun in art isn't it.

I used Slate, Pearl, a tiny bit of Pitch Black and I do mean tiny bit and the Blending Solution and I think it gave me this wonderful stormy night sky effect.

I tried to come up with a Poe story to fit this background, but I decided to use this stamp to give us a Poeesque creepy Halloween night, or in the genre in which he is placed with his writing Macabre Gothic.

Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog Chalenge 22-Autumn Leaves

We're starting to get a few nippy temps in N. TX so the leaves are just barely starting to change. I've had this ribbon and these staples in my stash for quite a long time, but I have to say the stars of this card are the 3 embossing powders I used. Copper for the large leaf, Aged Mahogany distress powder, and Tea Dye distress powder for the small leaf. Voila, you have a casually elegant card.

I wish you could see in the photo the true goodness of this Perfect Distress technique of Tim Holtz's. Before I tell you about this tag and if you like the looks of it be sure to click on Tim's name to go to his web site for complete instructions, he's got a great video on how to do this.

I used Peeled Paint to lay down the first color on the tag, then I stamped the circles with Spiced Marmalade and painted them with Forever Violet Perfect Pearls, stamped the skeleton, bats, spiders, and sentiment, hit the edges with Dusty Concord and Fired Brick distress ink. I added the ribbons and the brad to finish off this SPOOKY creation.

When you hold the tag in your hands it's almost like a holographic effect because when you turn and twist the tag you can really see the purple pearl shine.

This is really my favorite way to start a card or project. A good sketch and at least 2 themes.

October is Stuck on Poe month at Gingersnap Creations and with Horror Stories as the challenge I couldn't pass up trying to depict The Tell Tale Heart.

We've got the creepy house and even though I've got the heart behind Poe's picture frame I've got a wood plank behind it to remind us that the heart was really under the floor boards. A good classic creepy story to cuddle up with on Halloween night, so that's where Something Wicked This Way Comes at Opus Gluei, because every good horror story has a wicked beating heart in it somewhere.

Our Creative Corner Fabulous Faces

I took the card sketch from Card Patterns and turned it horizontally, that way it fits this set of stamps from Seaside Stampin Ink just perfect.

Several ladies have put out instructions on their blogs about using border punches to go around circles or other shapes by punching the strip and then cutting notches to give it some ease. Who knew you could do with paper what you can do with material. Thanks ladies for sharing with us all how to put our tools to more uses.

Splendiferous Creations Bloggers Challenge-Fall Blooms

You can see from the list above how I came up with the idea for this card. A sketch, and 2 themes.

I used 4 ink pads to create this tree. Starting with the lightest color and tapping the corner of the ink pads in different spots on the stamp, then a light spritz with water and stamp. I got a pretty fall tree.

Usually when you think of fall blooms you think of flowers, but acorns are fall blooms also and the beautiful leaves changing colors are as pretty as any flower to me.

Gingersnap Creations GC123: RANDOM REDHEAD CHALLENGE-Ravens

Anything Goes Challenge Blog is a new challenge for me. They look like a fun place to play so I've added them to my sidebar, be sure to check them out.

I pulled out some letter tiles a friend passed to me, the icky goo border punch, and Tim Holtz's tree embossing folder, for a few of the elements on this card. Stampin Up papers and my new set of Stampin Up frame stamps helped to give Edgar a nice sinister apperance. I printed his free Google image on some card stock that I had sprayed with some Mahogany pearl spritz that I had mixed up(might be a smattering of blooood)

Tuesday Morning Sketches is continuing to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There's going to be prizes at the end of the month for all who participated in every sketch this month. Melissa is one generous gal.

I haven't been able to get a sketch made every week so far, but I'm entering this pink confection for this week's sketch.

I just love this digi from Squigglefly and couldn't resist balancing her on the fluffy pink ribbon I've had in my stash for awhile and have no clue where I picked it up at.

Fortunately we have had no breast cancer in our family yet and hope that holds, but my thoughts, prayers, and hopes go out to all with this disease, and congratulations to all who have survived.

Quirky Crafts Challenge Challenge #21-Something Spooky or Recipe-Black-Gold + Glitter

Linda Ledbetter is back from her wonderful cruise with Tim Holtz and Gang. We hear she had an exciting time and since she's home we're all ready to get back to Grungy Monday, and since we're doing Spooky I thought I would pair this card with the challenge at Quirky Crafts Challenge--more Spooky--that's what October is all about.

I pulled out my Tim Holtz masks and Texture Fades embossing folder for this spooky creation. I already had some Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink mixed up with Perfect Pearl-Pearl for a sparkly spray. I used a piece of Pick You Poison designer paper, embossed the tree, and sponged some Soft Suede ink over it to bring it up. I laid on the pumpkin mask and spritzed with the spray, let dry, peeled off the mask, then laid the witch mask in the sky and sponged around with Soot Distress ink being careful not to get on the pumpkin, was going for a spooky sky effect. I had the little bats left over from another project, they come out of the bat border punch I have. I stamped the sentiment on Peach Parfait card stock, cut it out, sponged around the edges with Soot ink, and raised it with SU dimensionals and last but not least I ruffed up the edges with Tim's distressing tool.

Card Patterns CPS136-Sketch

Gingersnap Creations GC119: Random Redhead Challenge-Shared Moments

I've paired this bold silhouette stamp with this pretty designer paper. The berries in the top right corner seemed to go perfect with these brushes these 2 are having some fun in. A late summer afternoon of berry picking.

I stamped the image with black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder then sponged the inks around for a super resist effect. You have to remember to wipe off the embossed areas before you start putting your card together because the extra ink sits on this and you could have an inky mess.

Two of my favorite challenges sharing a wonderful vintage moment on this card.

Less Is More LIM36-One Layer card with Hearts

I'm a collector of heart stamps so when this challenge called for a one layer card with hearts I rose to the challenge by picking this large background stamp from Hero Arts, some Riding Hood Red ink and marker and viola lots of hearts.

Supplies: White Card Blank 4" X 5 1/2", Papers: Stampin Up-Whisper White, Stamps: Hero Arts-Country Hearts, Ink: Stampin Up-Riding Hood Red, and marker of same color.
